Give the Gift of Education

It’s not just about giving thanks to those at the table.

It’s about giving thanks to those who protect our streets.

#GivingTuesday

This year on Tuesday, November 29 the New Orleans Police & Justice foundation participated in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. NOPJF raised funds for the Tuition Assistance Program, which helps New Orleans Police Department officers and staff further their education.

We had a great turnout and collected thank you notes to display in NOPD district stations throughout the holiday season.

Special thanks to Freeport McMoRan and the New Orleans East Hospital for hosting us and to all those who helped show that New Orleanians care about our Krewe in Blue!

Sergeant Latina Jolivette is one of many NOPD officers who have benefited from the Tuition Assistance Program. Sgt. Jolivette graduated from Loyola University with her BA in criminal justice and went on to achieve her masters in social work. She is now a licensed social worker and is working towards her clinical license (LCSW).

“As soon as I got on the street I wanted to further my education. There was an education incentive for officers and I took advantage of it.”
